The Goliad Economic Development Corporation was created by the voters of Goliad, to strengthen our local economy by attracting new investment, supporting existing businesses, encouraging entrepreneurship, creating quality jobs, and expanding opportunities for current and future generations. Working in partnership with the City of Goliad, the VEDC Regional Partnership, local businesses, educational institutions, and regional organizations, we are committed to building a strong and resilient economy that benefits our entire community.

The Goliad EDC has board meetings once a month. These open and public meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm.
Meet The Board
The Board is comprised of seven (7) members, appointed by City Council. Board members serve two-year terms.
The Goliad EDC is always accepting board applications so that we may always have a pool of citizens willing to serve their community. Applications will be held for one year from the date received.

Robin Alaniz
Chairman of the Board
Robin Alaniz has proudly served the Goliad community for 18 years and currently serves as an Alderman for the City of Goliad. She also represents Goliad on the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission and serves on regional and state committees focused on economic development, emergency preparedness, and resource management. These roles allow her to bring valuable information and opportunities back to the community.
Robin brings to the EDC a strong understanding of Goliad, its role within the region, and the importance of preserving its rich history while pursuing opportunities for future growth.
A graduate of North Harris Community College School of Nursing, Robin has nearly 30 years of experience as a registered nurse. She is active in the Goliad Lions Club and Astron Club and is also a local event photographer, using her photography to promote Goliad and its community organizations.
Michael De La Garza
Secretary
Michael DeLaGarza is a lifelong Goliad resident and eighth-generation Texan whose family roots trace back to the settlement of Presidio La Bahia. A 1986 graduate of Goliad High School, Michael proudly served in the U.S. Army before earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston-Victoria.
For 22 years, Michael has served the citizens of Goliad County as Precinct 1 Constable while also building a 27-year career in operations at Dow Chemical. He is a local small business owner and was honored as the City of Goliad’s 2025 Economic Ally of the Year.
With deep ties to the community, Michael is committed to preserving Goliad’s heritage while supporting responsible growth and economic opportunity. He is proud to serve on the Goliad Economic Development Corporation and help build a prosperous future for the community.
Clarence Robinson
Director
Clarence Lee Robinson has served as a Director on the Goliad Economic Development Corporation Board since joining in 2025. Born and raised in Goliad and a 1984 graduate of Goliad High School, Clarence brings valuable small-town knowledge and a strong understanding of the community and the challenges it faces.
Clarence has a combined 33 years of military service, making the military his career before retiring. His extensive experience, leadership, and commitment to service provide a valuable perspective to the EDC Board and its efforts to support the continued success and economic growth of Goliad.
A lifelong member of the community, Clarence continues to reside in Goliad and is proud to serve his hometown as a member of the Goliad Economic Development Corporation Board.
Ramiro Rubio
Director
Ramiro Rubio has served as a board member of the Goliad Economic Development Corportation since 2025. He also served on the Planning and Zoning Board.
Jimmy Garcia
Director
Jimmy Garcia has been a Goliad resident since 1974 and a 1987 graduate of Goliad High School, he has deep family roots in the community and continued his education at Victoria College. Professionally, he began his career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and has spent the past 17 years working as a chemical process operator.
Community service has been a lifelong priority. He volunteered with Goliad Little League for more than 20 years, including seven years as League President, and led the complete renovation of the league complex in 2014. He has also coached youth football and helped organize travel baseball and softball teams supporting Goliad athletes.
Currently serving his second term as an Alderman on the Goliad City Council, he remains committed to supporting the growth, pride, and vitality of the Goliad community.
Steven Koehne
Director
Steven Koehne is a local business owner who was born and raised in Goliad. Through the experience of growing his own business, he brings firsthand knowledge of business development and community growth to the Goliad EDC Board. He has a strong passion for helping his hometown grow while supporting others as they pursue their own American dream of business ownership.
A 2016 graduate of Goliad High School, Steven spent a year in Houston before realizing that small-town life and his hometown were where he wanted to be.
After contributing to Goliad schools both academically and athletically, serving on the Goliad EDC Board marks Steven’s next step in becoming more involved in his community. He looks forward to expanding that involvement and contributing to Goliad’s continued growth and success.
