To ensure safety, structural integrity, and orderly growth across our community, the City of Goliad requires permits for various residential, commercial, and promotional activities.
All applications, fee payments, and information packets are processed directly through City Hall.

The City of Goliad enforces the 2006 International Building Codes. Permits are required for most structural changes, improvements, and additions.
New Construction & Remodels: Required for new builds, structural additions, and interior remodels that involve moving walls or doors.
Property Improvements: Required for installing fences, building swimming pools, or setting up accessory structures like sheds, workshops, and gazebos.
Demolition: Required before safely tearing down any existing structure.
Commercial & Special Operations: Specialized permits and licenses are required to operate certain businesses or utilize public spaces within city limits.
Certificates of Occupancy: Required for all new businesses establishing a physical location.
Vendor Licensing: Required for mobile food vendors, itinerant vendors, and door-to-door peddlers.
Right-of-Way Restrictions: A Travel way permit is required for any work impacting public roads. Specific city permission is also required to install items like curbside mailboxes on a city right-of-way.
